Journalism

Philanthropy

From the day it all started, we’ve been a company dedicated to asking one question: “Why not?” Our work to anticipate and overcome every challenge has rooted our values and vaulted us to the top of our industry.

The Said and Hasiba Freiha and Sons Foundation for Humanitarian Services was established on October 16, 1973, during a period of relative stability and calmness in Lebanon. From the beginning, the main goal of the foundation was to empower and support up-and-coming talents in the field of journalism.

By providing recipients with funds to cover their cost of living, the foundation left them free to concentrate on creating, researching, studying, and building their career.

Inspired by his upbringing in a financially unstable household, Said Freiha always prioritised uplifting professionals and students who come from deprived backgrounds.

While the workers at “Dar Assayad” had always been paid generously, the foundation extended this privilege to also include those who worked to print and distribute the company’s publications.

Indeed, as the foundation grew, its charity work expanded too.

While the workers at “Dar Assayad” had always been paid generously, the foundation extended this privilege to also include those who worked to print and distribute the company’s publications. In time, the goals of the institution came to be summarised as the following:

– To provide workers in the field of journalism with funds to help them pay for medical care. This includes any necessary surgeries and hospital visits, and aid for people of determination.

– To give grants to young high achievers who aspire to specialise in journalism.

– To offer financial assistance to the workers who print and distribute Dar Assayad’s newspapers and publications.

– To present annual grants or awards to those who have made momentous achievements in research, scientific study, translation or writing. This includes novelists, script writers, and short story writers.
